Indian Wells is a small community consisting of wealthy, well-known residents from the fields of business, entertainment and politics. Golf is considered to be the city pastime and the city has served as host sponsor to Frank Sinatra Countrywide Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament and Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Sport in Indian Wells is not limited to golf. The city is known for the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. This is a 16,000-seat stadium hosting The Pacific Life Open. The PLO is the world’s fifth-largest and most prestigious tennis event in the world drawing as many 275,000 resident and guest fans to the local area.

Another form of entertainment popular with residents and tourists alike is The Indian Wells Desert Symphony. This venue provides thrilling, five-star performances featuring world-famous musicians and singers. If scholarly discussion is more your forte the Desert Town Hall of Indian Wells lecture series is for you. Famous celebrities and well-respected individuals come to the desert and participate in this terrific event.
The Living Desert of Indian Wells boasts of 1,200 acres of scenic gardens, zoo, nature trails and exhibits located beneath the Santa Rosa Mountains. Visitors will encounter rare desert animals, and the area's famous Bighorn sheep. There are beautiful botanical gardens where one can stroll among 10 different desert ecosystems. Children and adults alike will thrill at the exciting exhibits. For example, "Eagle Canyon," replete with streams, Mexican wolves, mountain lions, bobcats, and even golden eagles. Visit the Village WaTuTu, a traditional African village. Here you will see leopards, camels, hyenas, tortoises, birds and the Petting Kraal with sheep, goats and Ankole cattle.
Residents can obtain a Property Owner I.D. Card at City Hall which makes them eligible for discounted golf, spa treatments, dining, shopping and more. Indian Wells is an address to which many aspire.

DIRECTIONS FROM PALM SPRINGS AIRPORT Upon leaving the terminal turn left on El Cielo to Ramon Road Turn left again on to Ramon Road to Gene Autry Trail Turn left again on to Gene Autry Trail to I10 Travel East on I10 toward Cook Street. Once there turn right on Cook Street and continue southbound to Hwy 111 Turn left on Hwy 111 into Indian Wells
DIRECTIONS FROM LAX Upon leaving the terminal head toward the 105 Freeway Travel east on 105 Freeway until you get to the 605 Freeway Travel north on 605 Freeway until you get to the 60 Freeway Travel east on the 60 Freeway to I10 Travel East on I10 toward Cook Street turn right on Cook Street and continue to Hwy 111 Turn left on Hwy 111 into Indian Wells
DIRECTIONS FROM ORANGE COUNTY Travel east on the 60 Freeway, or on the 91 Freeway to 60 Freeway, to I10 eastbound Exit Cook Street, turn right on Cook Street and travel south to Hwy 111 Turn left on Hwy 111 into Indian Wells
DIRECTIONS FROM SAN DIEGO Travel north on the 15 Freeway to Hwy 79, the Indio Exit Turn right on Hwy 79 and travel east to the Hwy 371 Indio turnoff, which is on the left Travel on Hwy 371 until you get to Hwy 74 Turn right on Hwy 74 Turn right on Hwy 111 and travel east four miles into Indian Wells

Golf Digest designated Indian Wells as one of the "Best Places to Play, 2004-2005," Be sure to visit The Golf Resort at Indian Wells. The course is tranquil and picturesque with green landscaping, sparkling lakes and towering shade trees. What is amazing is you can play this Indian Wells' championship course without being a member.
