Cathedral City, California

Cathedral City is the third-largest city in the valley. Its name was derived from Colonel Henry Washington of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who around 1850 bestowed the name Cathedral Canyon on what was to become known as "Cat City". He felt the name to be appropriate because in his mind's eye the area reminded him of the inside of a grand cathedral.

The city consists of a variety of home architectural styles and prices. You will find everything from grand estate homes, single-family residents, condominium complexes and mobile home parks that serve as home to full-time and season residents.

Well-known hotels, country clubs, world-class golfing, the Desert IMAX Theatre, the Ice Garden skating rink, and Family Fun park are responsible for bringing tourism and seasonal residents to Cathedral City.
